This course is aimed at all those that handle or have access to an individual’s personal data, providing a knowledge of the General Data Protection Compliance (GDPR)regulations to ensure compliance.

The GDPR applies to all organisations and professional or commercial activity individuals who process the personal data of individuals within the European Economic Area (EEA) regardless of where the organisation itself is based.

GDPR stands for the General Data Protection Regulation. EU 2016/979. The General Data Protection Regulation applies from the 25th May 2018 and replaced the UK’s Data Protection Act 1998.

This course will provide you with the vital knowledge to comply with the GDPR requirements.

GDPR and its purpose
The difference between personal and sensitive data. In this section you will look at what is personal and sensitive data, how to process each type of data and the rights of individuals
Role of the ICO – The UK’s national regulator
Role and responsibilities of the data officer, data controller and data processor. It is important that data is kept safe and secure. This section looks at the key roles that people play in ensuring that data is protected through day to day practice.
The 7 principles for storing and processing of data. This section will cover the law surrounding GDPR and the way in which the 7 principles of GDPR keeps people and their data safe.
Exemption from GDPR.
Data breaches and the action taken. Finally, you will take a look at what constitutes a data breech and what action may be taken, including fines.
