Course Content
Understand the importance of effective communication at work: a clear definition of communication is given, and a discussion based on how important effective communication is when working in care.
Understand how to meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of individuals/ Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication: An exploration into how a person prefers to communicate. Such as using positive body language, gestures, and non-verbal techniques.
Understand how to promote effective communication: further discussion to include specific methods of communication such as Braille or Makaton
Understand the principles and practices relating to confidentiality and sharing information: an explanation of how we can share information on a “needs to know” basis and when to gain consent, or if there are situations when consent doesn’t need to be given. How to complete written reports in line with data protection.
